My 2 Mass Effect Romance Choices

In the recent years, in the field of video games, the Mass Effect saga was one of my best discoveries (thanks to some of my friends who made me discover this franchise). Impressive graphics, charismatic characters, interesting story, the game adapts depending on the choices that we make, we can create the hero in our image and choose his past ..... So great. Also, the game provides a romance with a character, and here are my two favorite female characters, with whom I had a romance (each in a different game)

1. Liara T'soni
(Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3)
Even before I started the game, I was already looking at pictures of some characters to get an idea, and among them I saw the asari Liara T'Soni. Immediately, she interested me, and when I knew I could have a romance with her, I was even more motivated. Liara is one of the best characters in the saga, very smart, with a moving story, touching, she can be nice as she can sometimes be more pragmatic, especially towards her enemies. Liara is young (she has only 106 years old, but the Asari can live till 1000 years old), but she already has a strong character who pushes her to fight, and on top of that, I find her really beautiful. I always had a crush for alien women.
In the first game, I followed the advice of a good friend, who advised me to go talk to Liara between each mission and learn as much about her. With my character (Mathias Shepard), I discussed with Liara many times, and each time, I supported her, and little by little, friendship began to become stronger. I took her as teammate in many missions (the trio that I prefers is Me / Liara / Garrus). And towards the end of the first game, we had our first kiss, and Liara, with her powers, created a bond between us. We were linked.
In the second game, I had no other relationship with another female character, I remained faithful to Liara, and when we were together again, I helped her to defeat the Broker's Shadow. After that she took his place as the new Broker's Shadow, we spend an evening together to celebrate this victory, and our relationship.
In the third game, my relationship with Liara was not tainted. We always loved so much, and I proved it. Throughout the game, we have traveled the galaxy devastated to collect the largest galactic army. Shortly before the storm, we had our last moment of love together. I sacrificed my life to save the galaxy and allow the remaining races to survive. Liara survived, she put my name on the funeral monument of the Normandy, and I continued to watch over her. Wise as she is, she surely understood my gesture of sacrifice. Rather a life than billions.

2. Miranda Lawson
(Mass Effect 2 and 3)

Female soldiers are also part of my crushes, although at first I had difficulties to accept the beautiful Miranda Lawson. At first, she was distant, cold and almost insensitive to the feelings. And it was hard to accept that she can work for the organization Cerberus, that I really hate. But gradually as I learned about the life of Miranda, and our friendship has really formed over the missions, I begin to better appreciate her and to be honest, I do not have was insensitive to her beauty, both internal and external. Because yes, Miranda is not so cold as that. She asked me to help her sister, Orianna, that she really loves. I could not refuse to help her, and the story of the sisters Lawson really touched me.
And finally, our friendship turned into something stronger, and little before attacking the base of the Collectors, she told me to join her in the engine room.. And it's in this room we really started our love relationship (I precise that my romance with Miranda was in a different game of the one where I'm with Liara). Mirand can be nice when she wants, with a true honor, especially when she choose my side to fight against Cerberus.
And during the suicide mission in the base of the Collectors, Miranda managed to survive and I got her, with Garrus, to fight against the final boss (I only had one loss: Jack)
In the third game, as in my game with Liara, I had no other relationship with another female character. I had to help again Miranda to save her sister from the clutches of their father, a true asshole. I managed to save sister and makes that Miranda survives.

And you? Who is / are your ME Romance Choice(s)? And why?

Top 5: Mass Effect Favorite Characters

I have already finished Mass Effect 1 and 2, and now I started the 3. This is really one of the best sci-fi franchise that I discovered, the alien species are so varied, and many cults and endearing characters. And here are my 5 first favorites:

1. Liara T'soni
Ah Liara <3 I fell in love with her after the first discussions with her. She's really interesting, beautiful, strong, kind and understandable. She is tolerant to the other species, and even though she knows that humans are unpredictable, she wants to know our species. But Liara is also a fighter, she knows how to handle weapons and has biotic powers, which are very useful in combat. Liara evolved over the games, in the first she was shy, and in the 2 and 3, she becomes more dangerous, stronger and determined, what attracts me even more and makes her even sexier. I have a romance with her in the games, and our relationship is strong. What's even more great, is that with this relationship, Liara encourages me because she believes in me, as I believe in her. I love you Liara.

2. Urdnot Wrex
Wrex is a krogan, one of the favorite races of the ME universe, with Asari and Turians. But Wrex is really special. He's really cool, his humor makes me laugh, and especially, he's a leader and an accomplished warrior, very strong and useful in combat. Wrex made me laugh more than once, but I also like him because he's really respectable, and a loyal friend. Most of the Krogans are considered as selfish but Wrex is different because he cares about the fate of all his people and wants to protect it, I really admire that. At first glance, Wrex can be seeing as a brute who only love violence and blood, but when we know better, we see that Wrex is also a wise, who knows make the right decisions for himself, but also for its people and its allies. I considers Wrex as a brother now.

3. Garrus Vakarian
Another very cool character and that I considers like my brother. The Turian soldier, Garrus Vakarian. Code Name: Archangel. As with Liara and Wrex, I liked Garrus from the early scenes with him. He is really strong with weapons and is useful in combat. But also, Garrus has a really cool character and I like to talk with him. I also admire Garrus because he wants to bring a fair justice in the galaxy, and wants to eliminate the gangs that threaten this justice, and he is also ready to defend the galaxy against the Reapers. And also, Garrus has a sense of humor, which I also appreciate.

4. Urdnot Grunt
Yep, another Krogan, I'm really a fan of this species now. Grunt is different from the other Krogans, in its way, as he was created to be the ultimate soldier. Grunt me laugh a lot with his humor rather offbeat, and also he always want to kick ass and ready to fight, making jokes about it. Grunt was created like that. But Grunt also has a conscience because he wants to be part of the Krogan people, to have a clan and a chance to have a family, and I appreciate even more than Wrex have accepted him in his clan, as true Urdnot. Grunt is also very powerful and useful in battles, he saved my life more than once.

5. Kasumi
The first human in this ranking. Kasumi is a human, and she became the most famous and dangerous thief in the galaxy. I really like the way she uses her skills of stealth and camouflage to attack the enemy by surprise, like a ninja. I think it's really cool and sexy too hehe. Kasumi has a character rather reserved and mysterious, she does not seem very inclined to the discussion, but when we discover her past, we feel sorry for her, which makes her more human and endearing. One thing I regret is that it's impossible to have a romance with her.

Mass Effect

October 17th was my birthday, and among my gifts, I received the trilogy of Mass Effect games on PS3. I had heard of this game franchise by my friends who play it, and many have recommended to me. Being also intrigued by this universe, I decided to enter to explore it and make my opinion, although having first watched videos games on youtube, I already felt I was going to like it.

I started the first game yesterday and I continued today, and I would first like to say that the graphics are very well done, the worlds are beautiful, the story is very complex and interesting, the very endearing characters, and many races of aliens that I discovered that intrigues me, to my delight, curious as I am. The Mass Effect universe makes me very thought of Star Wars. I think that Mass Effect is perhaps inspired of SW without having copied it. ME has its own universe, its races, its story, its characters, its plot ..... In short, a unique world of its kind.

Early in the game, before you start, you can choose your first name, your past, and customize the face of your character as we want. That's so great! Now, in the ME universe, my name is Mathias Shepard, orphaned settler who saw his parents get killed by slavers, joined the army and became a war hero later, after resisting alone against an enemy assault . In my head, I add that I am committed the army to protect the innocents, to prevent other families from suffering the same as mine, and so that other children from becoming orphans and suffer like me.
The characters are really cool too, especially the aliens to me. I met Garrus Vakarian, a Turian and Urdnot Wrex, a Krogan. Garrus is really cool and I like his behavior, ready to fight and to follow orders like a true soldier. I have a really good Canadian friend who has a romance with Garrus. Wrex is less calm, but he seems too loyal and his brute side rather makes me laugh. I met girls too. Tali, a Quarian, whose face is hidden by a helmet that reminds me very much the Daft Punk * laughs *. Tali is cool too, and Another of my good Canadian friends has a romance with her.
And then there's Liara T'soni, an Asari. She is the one who attracts me the most. She is kind, intelligent. She interests me a lot, as much as her race than herself, and then also, I think she is very beautiful. In Mass Effect, you can have a romance with a character .... Well, I think my choice is made now. And also the main ship of the game, the Normandy, has the same name as a region of my country, so I feel pretty proud to be the commander of this ship.
For now, I have not finished the first game, but I wanted to say my first impressions, that are very positive, and I feel that ME will become one of my favorite sci-fi universes, at the same rank of Star Wars and Dead Space.
