Villain of the Month - Edition N°17

Hellcome humans, I hope you had a good 2017 start, and now, let's go for the first 2017 edition of the Villain of the Month.
And, we start with a villain from a French franchise, the most emblematic villain of the anime series Wakfu: Nox (or Noximilien) the Xelor.

Noximilien was once an ordinary human, watchmaker and inventor, he spent most of his time inventing machines that would allow him to make a fortune and thus ensure a better life to his wife and children. But one day, in a cavern, he discovered a mysterious artifact, the Eliacube, an object belonging to the extinct civilization of the Eliatropes. Nox, fascinated, took the object in his laboratory to study it. But over the months, the influence of the artifact on Noximilian was felt. He remained alone, locked in his lab, no longer ate, no longer slept and became very aggressive, to the point that he had become skeletal, his face dug with fatigue. His wife became frightened and decided to leave with the children, leaving Noximilian alone. Later, he learned that his wife and children had died as a result of the tidal wave that swallowed up the island where they were, because of the chaos of Ogrest. This news broke the already fragile spirit of Noximilian, plunging him into a chaotic and murderous madness. Determined to make up for his mistakes, he decided to go back in time with the Eliacube, to bring back his family. He abandonned his name Noximilien the watchmaker to become Nox the Xelor.
For 200 years, since Eliacube gave him a longer life than standard, Nox traveled the world to harvest the most energy from Wakfu to power the cube and develop his project. One day, he meets a dragon, Grougaloragran, and Yugo, a young child of the Eliatrope people, containing in him a quantity of Wakfu unimaginable. Nox set out to pursue them to take their energy. Nox ravaged the world, destroying legendary entities, and after failing to take Grougal's Wakfu, he targeted the Sadida kingdom, containing a legendary artefact, the tree of life, the source of life for all Sadidas in the world.
After a terrible battle that saw the death of one of his friends, Yugo faced Nox, and after a titanic fight, Nox emerged victorious in the fight, and seeing that the tanks of the Eliacube were full, decides to go back in time . Unfortunately, the time goes back only 20 minutes (thus effacing the defeat of Yugo), and Nox, impotent and lost, sees his project faded. Nox realizes that he has been manipulated from the beginning by the Eliacube, and that he will never be able to see his family again. Nox fled, and returned to the tombs of his wife and children, where time finally caught up with him, reducing him to a pile of dust, leaving nothing but his helmet and armor in front of the graves of his family. Thus ends the life of Nox, who joins his family in death.

Nox is a Xelor, a magician capable of mastering the powers of time. He can stop time as he pleases, teleport himself, send rays with his hands, or create a sword he uses to fight. With the Eliacube in his possession, Nox's powers are more powerful than those of an ordinary Xelor. One of the most interesting points of Nox is that it is not a villain who does evil for the evil. He's a "Drama villain", because his story is tragic. Nox is not really evil as he want to show it, he just went crazy because of an artefact too powerful for him. Nox was a loving husband and father, and he was ready to do anything to see his family again and redeem his faults, even to destroy the world for that, knowing that by going back in time, all the atrocities he committed during the course of the 200 years will be erased.

Hero of the Month - Edition N°16

For the last edition of the hero of the month of the year 2016, I present one of my fictional loves, and also my first fictional love coming from a French franchise: Evangelyne, the archer female Cra from the universe Wakfu.

Evangelyne is member of the Cras race, a humanoid people like elves, and specialized in archery. When she was a child, Evangelyne was sent to the Sadida realm, as a companion of the Princess Amalia, who was the same age as she was at that time. The two girls grow up together and become very friends. As a young woman, Evangelyne continues to serve Amalia. But one day, Amalia forced Evangelyne to come with her, telling her that the god Sadida appeared to her in a dream, telling her that a great mission was waiting for her, but in reality it was a pretext invented by Amalia for Flee his kingdom, wishing to live an adventure in the vast world.
It is during this adventure that she and Amalia make meet Yugo, Sir Tristepin and Ruel, who together with them, will form a group of adventurers. Evangelyne agrees to help others find the missing family of Yugo and the group sets off on an adventure around the world of Wakfu. When Evangelyne and the group arrives on the island of Oma, they find what they are looking for, but at the same time they discover their true enemy: Nox, a Xelor, a magician capable of controlling time and eager to seize Each Wakfu present in the world. When Nox and his army attack the Sadida kingdom, Evangelyne and his group have no choice but to face it. But the battle quickly turned bad, and Tristepin sacrifices his life to save Evangelyne and Amalia. Evangelyne, who during the adventure had developed feelings for Tristepin, is annihilated by the death of the knight Iop, whose body disappears in his arms, called by the god Iop to be at his side. But after a hard fight, Nox is finally defeated and so the group of adventurers becomes famous for being the saviors of the world. Evangelyne becomes a true legend in her people, under the nickname of "Eva the legendary Cra".

As a Cra, Evangelyne possesses a bow she holds more than her own life, as an arch is sacred for a Cra. Eva has many powers in her bow, like being able to shot arrows of fire, ice, explosives or many more. Like all the Cras, she has a very develloped hearing, a great agility and an eagle's view. Evangelyne is a rather authoritarian character, tomboy, preferring to affiliate her combat techniques or deepen her knowledge. Eva also has a big heart, like her friends, she does not hesitate to help the poor people in distress. Even if she often criticizes Tristepin for her limited intelligence or her way of rushing without thinking, she loves him deeply and will go so far as to embrace him, thus showhing her true feelings, which seem reciprocal on his side.

Villain of the Month - Edition N°11

Hellcome humans for the new edition who put the best fictional villains on the planet in the spotlight. This month, I'm proud to present a villain from my country, from a French fantasy series: the main antagonist of the season 2 of Wakfu and one of the most dangerous of the series: Qilby the traitor.

In the world of Wakfu, Qilby is a member of Eliatrope people, but even more, it is one of the first six Eliatropes born, and thereby, is immortal and after each of its dead, returns to his Dofus, an egg of dragon, to be reborn again. Qilby is found by Yugo and Adamaï while he remained locked in a lost dimension. Qilby discovers that the world has changed since his departure and then tells what happened to Eliatrope people, saying that a race of machines, the Mechasmsn have, centuries ago, destroyed Eliatrope civilization, forcing them to change of planet. But a Mechasm, Orgonax, has traced the Eliatropes and caused their end. During the fight, Qilby said he lost his arm because of Orgonax and Yugo, to save the life of his king, sent him to the lost dimension or he had remained locked since. This is the version of Qilby, but the truth is otherwise. Soon, Qilby proves to be crazy, or even dangerous. With the eliacube, he recovers quickly his strength and his lost arm. The purpose of Qilby is simple: leave the world of twelve with a ship, the Zinith, and use all the Wakfu energy present in the world to take off the machine, even if this world is to be destroyed. Qilby wants to leave to go to the discovery of new worlds, considering that the Eliatropes are the chosen people and must therefore explore the universe, opinion is not shared by Yugo and Adamaï, who consider the destruction of a innocent world is not worth that excuse. During the final battle, Qilby reveals to Yugo that he is himself responsible for the attack f the Mechasms on the Eliatrope people, centuries ago, and therefore, it is the dragon Phaeris, ally of Yugo, that wounded Qilby to the arm, and Yugo, to punish Qilby, had banished him to a lost dimension. The battle between the two enemies resumed again. Yugo learns by Eliatropes survivor that he himself is the king, and not Qilby who declared himself king, considering more able to lead the people and saying that Yugo is not worthy of such a title.

As the first five other Eliatropes, Qilby has the power of immortality and reborn in each of his "dead". But however, Qilby has an additional capability, which is a kind of curse. If the other Eliatropes, as Yugo, lose all memory of their past life in their rebirth, meanwhile, Qilby never forget. He keeps the memory of all his past lives, every moment is etched in his mind. With this, Qilby acquired thousands of years of knowledge through his lives, but over time, it has lost all taste for life, considering that he had seen everything and had to go elsewhere, taking with him his people against their will if necessary. All his years of solitude, imprisonment and the influence of eliacube on his mind eventually make Qilby crazy and paranoid, seeing all others as inferior and against him.
Qilby has a strength and powers tenfold with the force of eliacube. But what makes him really dangerous is his intelligence. Despite his psychosis, Qilby is very clever, and takes sadistic pleasure in manipulating everyone to use them to its prorpes intêrets. In one episode, Qilby said to Yugo that he likes to see people fight each other. Qilby therefore proves to be a sadist.
But despite that, Qilby belongs to the "dramatic villains" because despite his psychopathic behavior, if you know its history, also feels sorry for him. His strength is his curse. Because even if he is immortal, Qilby is condemned to live forever with the memories of each of his past lives, never forgetting. And even if Qilby is claiming himself invincible, he has a fear that Yugo guessed throughout their battle: Qilby is afraid to be alone. Loneliness is his greatest fear. During the fighting, Qilby hurt Yugo, Adamaï, Grougaloragran and Phaeris but never kill them, because knowing that if he kill them and all his people, he will be alone.

For his story, his curse, his personnality and his powers, Qilby deserves to be in the list of the most charismatic villains.

See you next month for the next edition \m/

Rubilax: a good who wants playing the villain

Today, I'm talking about one of my favorite cartoon characters: the demon, Rubilax.
It appears in the excellent animated series Wakfu (inspired by the famous game of the same name).

Rubilax is a shushu, a kind of very dangerous demon, who has many powers. The Shushus crave destruction and blood. They invade the worlds, to destroy them, one by one.

Rubilax is a shushu with four elements: fire, water, stone and ice. It is nicknamed "the shushu of the carnage" because when he gets angry, he takes pleasure in massacring everyone and make a carnage around him.
But despite this rage, Rubilax is actually a good that makes the villain.

At the beginning of the series, Rubilax is enclosed in a sword, and has for guardian, Sir Tristepin, a strong but not very clever warrior.
Rubilax despises Tristepin and has no respect for him, even to insult him or mock him.
But in the middle of the series, Tristepin managed to defeat Rubilax in duel, and at the same time gaining the respect of the demon.
But even if he has a lot of power, Rubilax is not happy. He considers himself a villain, but in reality it is one of the most tender Shushus, as pointed out Rushu, the king of Shushus.
After being humiliated in front of his king and the others Shushus, Rubilax understands that he is not bad enough to be a real demon. He rebels against his leader and joined the humans to fight his former brethren.

Rubilax has four elements as powers, but he has others powers. One of its most powerful powers and grow after receiving blows. Indeed, at first, Rubilax measures less than a meter high, but when he takes a beating, he will grow and become indestructible. Moreover, he pointed out to Tristepin when this one just hit Rubilax and that he grows before him.

"Yes, it always suprend the first time. More you hit me, the more I become big, and more I become big, the more I become strong!"

Rubilax to also quite black humor, and even after being defeated by Tristepin, he continues to mock him from time to time, but not unkindly.

Finally, I can not help but feel sorry for Rubilax. All he wanted was to be a demon worthy of the others, but it is different of the others and too nice. He realized that even humans treat him better than his brothers.
