March 28, 2018. A date and a day that will remain forever etched in my memory. Because it's the day I finally could see a group in concert that I wanted to see for so many years ..... Evanescence, the only and one, a legendary band.
I remember the first time I heard Evanescence in my life. I was ten or eleven, I was in car with my family, and my mother turned on the radio. There was the song "Going Under" playing at this moment and I remember I liked it.
The concert was a bit special because Evanescence was accompanied on stage by a symphony orchestra. The grandeur and luxury of the concert hall, I almost believed myself in an opera.
There was no opening act band, but for the opening, the orchestra first played alone and played some classics. I even recognized mozart and beethoven. I do not listen much classical music but I can recognize the great classics when I hear them. It was interesting and especially a little funny when you know that the audience was composed of fans of rock and metal. But after all, rock and classical music has always been well mixed.
And finally, they arrived. Evanescence. When Amy Lee finally appeared and I finally saw her for real, my heart made a huge leap in my chest. She is even more beautiful in reality, and her voice ..... Her voice ..... For me one of the most beautiful voices in the world .... The voice of an angel sent to earth to sing for the rockers and metalheads. Those who say she has grown too old and her voice is no longer top ..... Bullshits! She is only 36 years old, and her voice has remained magnificent. I rarely had so many thrills at a concert. I have not seen the time pass and it is very quickly pass unfortunately :( Evanescence I miss you already!
I left the room, smiling, with a t-shirt and a poster in my arms, and of course the few photos and videos I made in memory of that day.
The DiscoveRock articles were absent for a little while, but are coming back today for the 29th edition. For this edition, back in the Power Fantasy metal, with a group that I discovered today but I already enjoy the music and theme: Wind Rose.
Italian group formed in 2009, Wind Rose reflects for me the spirit of the epic mix of Medieval and Metal music. Dressed in their armors and their fur capes, axes in hand, like dwarves, gathered around a fire in the middle of the night in the forest, this group plunges us into the fantastic world of armor, swords and orcs . And all this of course accompanied by their melodic and epic Folk / Power metal music and their chants that gave me chills at first listen. One of their songs even mentions Erebor, the famous dwarf city of Tolkien's universe. But my favorite song of them remains for now "The Returning Race" that I listen without getting tired.
For now, the band has a demo released in 2010, and three official albums: Shadows over Lothadruin, released in 2012, Wardens of the West Wind released in 2015, and Stonehymn released in 2017.
If you like the epicness of medieval and the power of metal, this group is for you.

I publish this special edition of DiscoveRock to talk about another legendary band, Linkin Park, but also to pay my tribute to the memory of a rock icon, Linkin Park's lead singer, Chester Bennington, who was found dead at his home on July 20, 2017. His death leaves a huge void in the group but also in the entire world of music.... May you rest in peace, Chester. All my condolances to his friends and family. This article is for you, Chester.
Existing since 1996 (under the first name of Xero, then Hybrid Theory, to finally become Linkin Park), Linkin Park is an American band, making Nu Metal, or Electro Rock, or Alternative Rock. Linkin Park has become a real icon in the years of their career, having sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy Awards. Their songs, sometimes very powerful, sometimes calmer, have made the tour of the world, songs such as Numb, New Divide, Castle of Glass, In the End, What I've Done or Burn it Down, for exemples, have become absolute hits, making millions of views on the Internet and having become monuments of the rock music. Linkin Park was even the first rock band to cross the billion views on youtube. The group currently has released seven albums, the last of which, One More Light, was released in 2017. But with the death of the band's singer, Chester Bennington, who has become a true rock icon through the years, Linkin Park's future seems really uncertain ...... Chester will never be forgotten, his unique voice will continue to resonate in the hearts and ears of the fans, forever.

Hell'O to all the fans of rock and metal of the world, and today, for this chronicle of June, we will go on the side of the desert, the heat, to discover a group that I discovered myself today but of which the style already pleases me: Violence of the Sun.
Violence of the Sun is a Heavy / Stoner Rock band from Giulianova, Italy, formed at the end of 2014. I've been a fan of Stoner since I've been a fan of metal, so, since ever. Guitar and bass riffs are very heavy, saturated, sometimes slow, sometimes faster, with a little touch of blues, all this accompanied by powerful drum hits, and the singer's voice, sometimes it also calm, and sometimes saturated and more grave. They still plunge us into the deep atmosphere of a burning and dark desert as far as the eye can see, which gives us the impression of being lost in a storm of sand, or there, in a metal storm. The band has released two albums, one in 2015, Three Times, and another in 2016, Perceptionism. If you're a fan of heavy and loud rock, in a desert mood, then this band is for you.

Visionatica is a Symphonic Metal german band, formed in 2013 and still active to date. For me, Visionatica is one of those talented groups that deserve more notoriety and recognition. Their style is symphonic, powerful and epic, often accompanied by classical instruments, powerful sonorous backgrounds and epic choirs, almost making think sometimes of music of fantasy movies, making you imagine great battles, or sometimes most calm songs making you quiet and feeling good, and all of this accompanied by the beautiful voice of the singer, Amara Avodem. For now, Visionatica released only one album, Force of Luna, in 2016, but the songs on it, such as Lilith, The Thorns, Never Will Die, Swamp of the World, or their single She Wolf, a song talking about the werewolves living in secret in the world, to cite a few examples. Of course, I'm sure other albums will come, and I'm waiting for this. A group that is well worth listening if you're fan of metal.

For the 25th edition of DiscoveRock, I'm going to talk about a very special band, which I became a fan, a band that is subject to a lot of hatred (unfairly), on the part of purists metal fans. But I don't fucking care of what they think, I like this band and I put it in DiscoveRock because for me, it's a group like any other, which has the right to its chance and the right to exist. Here is my favorite Japanese metal band, Babymetal! \m/
The group was formed in 2010 and is still young, but has already acquired a worldwide reputation and made concerts around the world. A mythology was even created around the group, designating the three girls and main members of the group (Su, Yui and Moa) as young women warriors, who were chosen by the god-fox, a god of metal, to spread the power of metal throughout the world and fight the forces of evil. For me, being a super fan of fantasy and supernatural, I adore this idea which makes the group seem almost supernatural too. Babymetal is a mixture of Heavy Metal and J-Pop, and it's true that at first I found the concept interesting but strange, and then I listened, and in the end, I really liked, the mix is very well done. Even though I have not yet seen the band in live, their videos of concerts really impressed me too. The songs are dynamic, powerful, some fast, others slower, the dances are very well done, Su, Yui and Moa do a very good job, like the musicians who play with them on stage. They define their style as a new kind of metal, the "Kawaii" Metal, and I find the idea amusing. As I wrote at the beginning, metal purists criticize the band very much, saying it is not a real metal band, and with that I do not agree. There are metal elements, such as guitar, bass and drums, and the sound is clearly metal, so the band can be put into that category. For my part I am one of those who support Babymetal against these unfair criticisms, and I repeat, the group deserves to have its chance to exist. For now, the band has only released two albums, the first, "Babymetal", released in 2014, and the second, "Metal Resistance", released in 2016, and this is just the beginning. I wish a lot of success to Babymetal and a lots of other albums to come.
He has become a phenomenon as much by its musical style as marketing. I call him "the king of satyr" or the "Joker of Metal". It has been talked so much about him in the world that hundreds of rumors (real or false?) Are running about him, making him almost a living urban legend. The one and only, Marilyn Manson. Her stage name is a mixture of the famous actress Marilyn Monroe, and the psychopath Charles Manson, making a mixture of an icon loved by all, and one of the worst monsters that our world has known. A mix of what the world made in best and worst.
The style of Marilyn Manson is classified as "Shock" and "Industrial" Metal, with a little touch of Glam too.
His video clips are very special, filled with a really dark, macabre atmosphere, evil, and some of them could shock the younger people. Manson's style is deliberately provocative, showing a character, crazy, dark, who knows no limits and does not care about others' judgment about him, doing whatever he wants. Because of this image, Manson had many problems during his career, especially against religious groups, who accuse him of inciting young people to violence, of being a Satanist, etc. But despite These accusations, Marilyn Manson's career has never stopped, proof, his tenth album studio, Say10, will be released in 2017.
Apart from music, Manson also has a passion for cinema and art. For his career in the world of music, Marilyn Manson deserves his place among the Metal legends \m/
Formed in 2013 in Columbus, Ohio, United States, Starset is, for me, one of these talented bands, but unfairly misunderstood, and deserving more notoriety. Their music is a powerful mix of rock and electro, with sometimes powerful, sometimes calm, that take you through the stars, into the world of science fiction, whose videos are inspired, like their clip "My Demons" making a mix between sci-fi and steampunk, and also with a story between the past and the future. Very cool video. Their costumes of scenes are also impressive, the space suits are really cool and the visors emanating a bluish light are of a very beautiful effect. For the moment, the band has released two albums, Transmissions, released in 2014, and Vessels in 2017. I even took one of their songs "The Future is Now", as credits song for my Bioshock story.
If you like science fiction, powerful electronic music and rock, and if you love bands like Skillet or Linkin Park, then Starset is a band you will surely love. I highly recommend it!

This February 4, 2017 will have been one of the best days of my life. First of all, I received in the morning my rare action figure that I ordered on the internet, of good quality, which I waited impatiently, and in the evening I knew that an important concert took place: At the Zenith, One of my favorite concert places in Paris, was going to be a great concert, with three bands I'm a fan of: Beyond the Black, Powerwolf, and headliner, Epica!
Arriving in the Zenith, where I had not been for two years, when I saw the scene again, I nostalgically remembered my concerts with Motörhead, Kiss and ZZ Top. It was in the Zenith of Paris that I had my most epic concerts. Despite many people who had arrived before me, I could place myself and have a good overview of the whole concert.
To start the evening, a Symphonic Metal band from Germany, which I had discovered (by chance) on youtube and whose style I immediately liked: Beyond the Black. Even if the band played only five or six songs, I was very happy to see them and hear them, in addition for their first visit to Paris. If you like metal music with intonations that make you think to fantasy and celtic, Beyond the Black should please you. In any case, for their first time in Paris, they managed to heat the room. Bravo!
The second band of the evening, but not the least, because it is a band I have been waiting for several years now, and of which I knew in advance that I was not going to be disappointed: the werewolves coming from Germany, a and whose notoriety grows at high speed for our greatest happiness: Powerwolf! The group already has a great notoriety in France because when they arrived on stage, they were received like kings. In video they are already impressive, but live, I was amazed. Their costumes, sets, their music.... They as much surprised me than when I saw Lordi and Ghost for the first time. They played some of my favorites, such as Army of the Night, Amen and Attack, Sanctified with Dynamite, or We Drink your Blood. The singer, Attila Dorn, spoke a little in French, saying that this evening was the mass of Heavy Metal. Indeed, I almost believed myself in a black Mass. My expectations were worth it, and I will go back to Powerwolf with great pleasure.
And to finish the evening, of course, the starring band, with so powerful and epic music, mixing metal and classical music, that it transports you into fantastic worlds. I want to talk about the one and only Epica. Before Epica started, I talked with two very nice guys, who told me that they had come expressly from the city of Brest, in Brittany, to see the concert, because they are very fans of Epica. With the lighting effects, the fireworks, the pyrotechnical effects, the concert of Epica has marked me as much as the concerts of Nightwish and Kiss that I did. Simone Simons, one of my metal angels, beautiful and superb voice, with her long hair of fire, has spellbound the crowd, as much as the rest of the band with the epic guitar riffs, frenzied drums and resonant keyboard. A fucking great show with a big "S".
Ah, another very good point during this evening. I met one of my foreign friends of Facebook, Madlen, whom I recognized at a distance thanks to her cool Powerwolf's makeup. I knew she was coming to Paris for the concert, but with the crowd there was, I could not find her right away. We talked, and made a picture both, to keep a memory of course. I am very happy to have met her, because I'm friend with her for several years already, and for me, it is very important to can meet my friends online. Who said that online friends are not true friends? Well, this is false. The value of distance is nothing. Unfortunately I could not stay long with her because it was pretty late, and I had to make it quick to take the last transport and avoid getting stuck in Paris. But as I told her, I hope and I'm sure we'll meet again at other events. See you next time Madlen :) \m/

For the first edition of DiscoveRock of the year 2017, I will plunge you into the heart of the most unhealthy darkness with this band from hell: Terra Tenebrosa.
Swedish band formed in 2009, Terra Tenebrosa is really a special band, first with its avant-garde and black metal style very saturated, the guttural voice of the singer, dark, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and always in an unhealthy atmosphere and abandoned places. Their video clips almost resemble unhealthy videos of the Deep Web, which adds a little more to the terror. The members of the group are masked and their real names are unknown. For me, they are the darkest band I ever listened, but they're really good. For now, the band released three albums, their first "The Tunnels" (2011), "The Purging" (2013), and "The Reverses" (2016).
If you love creepy places, creatures, darkness, demons.......Terra Tenebrosa is made for you.
Sorry if there was no DiscoveRock in November, but I was not at my best and I did not feel inspired to write, but now, for the month of Christmas, I come back for The new edition. This time we go to Italy, to discover a band that I saw in concert, with whom I made a photo, and which are for me one of my most beautiful discoveries of the year 2016: Sinheresy.
Formed in 2009 first as a cover band featuring Nightwish songs, Sinheresy begins to make his own songs from 2011, but keeping his Metal Symphonic style powerful and very addictive. The magnificent voice of the female singer, Cecilia Petrini, and the powerful voice of the male singer, Stefano Sain, are in perfect coherence in the songs and with the melodic guitar riffs, the beat of the drums and the melody of the keyboards. For the moment, the band has made a demo, an EP, and their first official album, Paint the World, was released in 2013. I saw them at Paris, as opening act band for Tarja Turunen, and I felt in love immediatly with their music style and their songs. For me, Sinheresy are among the future of the Symphonic Metal.

To finish a year by the concert of a group that you like is good, but to finish with a group that is part of your top 3 personal is better. This happened to me on December 1st, in Paris, when I went to see the group that for me is the future of rock music: Airbourne.
For my last concert of the year, I was not alone, because my father was with me. I made him discover Airbourne, he loved, and he wanted to see them in live, and there too he loved. For the concert I was on one of the balconies, close to the stage, with a very good overview. I could have chosen to go into the pit, but I knew that with Airbourne, the pit would turn into a battlefield, and I was right. From the first song, the entire pit began to become a crazy mess. But that's it, the Airbourne style!
At the beginning, I was a little afraid because I had learned from the news that a group of terrorists had planned a new attack on Paris the day I went to see the concert but fortunately, the cops arrested the terrorists and defeated their plans in advance. I can not say if the concert room le Trianon was one of their targets, but I was reassured. Thank you to the police and the anti-terrorism unit.
For the concert, Airbourne played a few songs from the new album released this year, but also many old songs, such as No Way but the Hard Way, or Too Much Too Young Too Fast, and of course the best known: Live It Up and Runnin 'Wild. The atmosphere was completely electric and the room was full. Joel O'Keeffe, the leader of the band, sprinkled the first rows of the pit with cans of beer, as usual, smashing them on his skull. He also went through the crowd playing the guitar, all on the shoulders of a vigil. At one point, during a song, Joel noticed me. I made the horns of the devil in his direction, he was looking towards the balcony at that moment. He smiled, and made the horns of the devil in my direction. I was too happy. And of course, Airbourne also paid tribute to one of their idols, the great Lemmy Kilmister, playing the tribute song they created for him: It's All for Rock N Roll.

Last night, on a cold November night, and despite the cold and rain, I lived one of my best concerts of this year.
Tarja Turunen, the great soprano singer of Metal, a true legend in Finland, ended her tour by coming to the French capital, and I had the honor of being there. The concert hall was the Casino de Paris, a rich, huge, well-known room in France, which dates back more than 100 years (it was inaugurated in 1880).

For this beautiful end of tour, there was not only one, but two first parts in the show. Although I liked the band The Shiver with their mix of rock and electro elements, I admit that I preferred the second band, Sinheresy, whose the style Symphonic / Heavy metal, is in the line of the great groups like Nightwish or Within Tempation. A new discovery for me, to the point that I made a photo with three of the members of Sinheresy after the concert, as a memory.
But of course the artist I was most impatiently waiting for was the Finnish queen of metal in person, the one and only, Tarja Turunen, always as beautiful, as much by the voice as her appearance. Accompanied by her group, she gave us almost two hours of an unforgettable show, in the old and magnificent decoration of the Casino (of which Tarja told us that it's a very beautiful place). For the concert, Tarja was dressed in a magnificent large black dress, decorated with feathers of ravens, like a raven princess of metal. Her outfit was almost Medieval Fantasy and I loved it, I even thinked about the Night's Watch from Game of Thrones. Even though the audience had to be seated on seats, the atmosphere was not affected. The French metal public was there, to acclaim Tarja, because in France, she is loved and respected, her audience is faithful and will always remain. For the last songs, the public (including myself), we all raised for her and have remained standing, and the vigils have let us do. In short, a magnificent concert full of colors and emotions, and metal! A great way to finish a tour. Thanks to you, beautiful Tarja, to give us so much happiness through your voice and your songs. You will always be welcome in France, we love you!
If I say words like Come As You Are ..... ..... Nervemind...... Smells Like Teen Spirit ..... You probably think about the Grunge band became famous worldwide in just a few years: Nirvana. Formed in 1987 by the young rocker Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's success is slow to surface, the group is forced to debut playing in small crappy rooms. In 1989, the band released its first album, Bleach. But over time, Nirvana attracts media attention with his dynamic style Grunge, with sometimes violent lyrics, criticizing many life itself. The band's career takes a global turn over the years, and despite only three albums, the most epic remains Nevermind, many of their songs have become legendary, like Come As You Are, Lithium, Rape Me, In Bloom, or Smells Like Teen Spirit, still today considered as one of the rock anthems. Unfortunately Nirvana career was short-lived, and the group ended in 1994 following the death of Kurt Cobain, found dead at his home, a bullet in the head. He was 27 years old. Kurt had always had a very self destructive side, the theory of suicide is more credible, although still today, many people say that this is a murder. Kurt Cobain received honors befitting a legend, worldwide rock fans paid him tributes and Kurt joined the pantheon of rock legends. Even today, his music is always heard and always loved, and his legend continue to live.

Yesterday I celebrated my 23 years old. Is what I'm deciding to become an adult? Hmmm ..... Nooooo. Why change and impose conditions when I am as I am? Anyway, this year, the rock and metal were one more time present in my birthday, and this is what I received:
To start at the top of the list, the DVD + audio CD of "Clean your Clock", the last concert of Motörhead recorded on DVD, which took place in Munich, Germany, just some months before that Lemmy passed away. It was one of the last shows where he was in good shape, where he could do a whole concert, and where his voice did not seem too weak. They especially replayed old school songs, like Metropolis, Stay Clean, Bomber, Overkill, and my favorite of course, Ace of Spades. At least Lemmy did what he wanted, and the group left a last magnificent DVD which advance at the same level as the last album, which is really excellent.
Then, the new album of the Australian band Airbourne, released in September this year: Breakin 'Outta Hell, fourth album since their creation. What to say? Well that Airbourne has lost none of his energy and sound power. I have preferences for some songs, like Rivalry, It's All for Rock N Roll, It's never too loud for me, but my favorite is one that has the name of the album, Breakin 'Outta Hell. Airbourne must continue like that, they will become fucking legends, I am sure, because I believe in them and their talent.
And finally, my favorite Finnish band, my dear monsters I like so much, Lordi, are back with the new album, their eighth, also released this year on the same day as the album Airbourne. Monstereophonic: Theaterror vs Demonarchy. I still love how Lordi are playing with the words to create their own. The idea is interesting to have two sides on one album, like monster vs demon. The songs of the Demonarchy part also seem more aggressive. My favorite song? I say Let's Go Slaughter He Man. Although the video clip of Hug You Hardcore had disappointed me, I liked the song itself. So, not disappointed with this new album, Lordi are still overflowing with creativity to create their new costumes every time, even if I have a preference for the outfits of SFO and TBONTB eras.

Hi metalheads and rockers around the world, and welcome to the daily edition of DiscoveRock, and again, I present a band from my country, France. A band that I discovered there are few, but whose the style and the songs have immediately attracted me: Unseelie.
Unseelie is a young band formed in Paris in 2010. If you like bands like Nightwish or Within Temptation, you will surely also love Unseelie. Their style of music is indeed, a good Symphonic Metal, songs both sweet, melodic, powerful and energetic, with a few subtle elements of electro sometimes added, in an atmosphere atmospheric very deep, which plunges us into another world when we close our eyes and let us take by the rythm and the lovely and beautiful voice of the singer, Anne-Emmanuelle. That's what I felt in listening. For now, Unseelie released an EP named "Unholy Light," released in 2011, and in 2014, released their first official album: "Urban Fantasy", with really great songs, as for exemple "Frontier" ou "Hunter's Game". I have not seen them in concert for now, but I hope to have that opportunity one day. This is when I listen to bands like them that I am proud that the French metal is as well represented.
To all the fans of Symphonic Metal throuh the world, go listen to Unseelie, I'd recommend it highly!

If you recognize this phrase now become cult in the world of rock, you know the group which I will discuss in this special legend DiscoveRock article: Kiss.
Founded in 1973, despite a very difficult start, Kiss is now one of the most iconic rock bands on the planet, as much for his music than his appearance. Their style can be seen as a mix of Heavy and Glam Metal. The peculiarity of the group are the costumes and makeup that each member carries during their concerts and defines the character of each member. The four main icons of the band are the Starchild (Paul Stanley), the Demon (Gene Simmons), the Spaceman (formerly Ace Frehley, now Tommy Thayer), and the Catman (formerly Peter Criss, now Eric Singer). And with their incredible music, their shows are too. With a custom scene for them, mobile platforms, the pyro-techniques effects and confetti explosions, the group imposes performances of great beauty to his fans (I'm witness, I saw that with my own eyes). And more 40 years career and 20 albums later, Kiss continues to rotate, and fans await the coming of a new album. And like other bands like Motorhead, Nirvana, AC / DC or Black Sabbath, Kiss engraved his name in the legend, and left his mark in the world of rock, forever.

Hell-O, rockers and metalheads, and hellcome in a new edition of DiscoveRock, and this time, come back in my country, France, to discover another rock band from countryside and who love to F*** the bass players: The Inspector Cluzo.
The Inspector Cluzo is a rock band formed in 2008 and consists of two members: "Malcolm" Laurent Lacrouts, who handles guitars and "Phil" Mathieu Jourdain who plays drums. They describe their style on their facebook page, like music Soul / Funk'n Roll. The group is also described as "Rockfarmers" because yes, Inspector Cluzo do not just music, but are also in the area of the farm and livestock, or they manufacture their products themselves, that they do not hesitate to share with their fans or other musicians when the opportunity arises. The Inspector Cluzo already has a reputation in the world of rock, and also abroad, because indeed, the group has already performed concerts across the borders of France, for exemple in a festival in Japan, at Mount Fuji, where they were very well received and acclaimed by the public. They also met with other groups and other great musicians, such as, for exemple again, the one and only Lemmy Kilmister, with whom they made a beautiful photo, and offered some of their products of their farm to the leader of Motörhead. Since the beginning, The Inspector Cluzo recorded an EP and five albums, the last, Rockfarmers, was released this year. This is already a very good start and I hope it will continue as long as possible for this excellent band that my dad made me discovered. In September 16, 2016, Airbourne, one of the bands I prefer in the world, and that I consider as the future of the Hard Rock, will release his fourth album in record shops. Only four albums, and the group already enjoys a high reputation and notoriety grandisante increasingly worldwide, it tell you how they are gifted. Their new single, named after the album, "Breakin 'Outta Hell", was released on YouTube on July 7, 2016. I listened it, well, I was not disappointed. Powerful, energetic, fast, 100% Airbourne way I like. I have a good feeling for this new album, which will make a lot of noise I feel.
I have all the albums of Airbourne, and of course I expect the big day to see this new album join the others in my collection.
Lordi - Monsterophonic (Theaterror vs Demonarchy)
Finally, Lordi, the best monster band on the planet, will release a new album, their eighth to be exact. After Scare Force One that I liked a lot, I expect a lot for this new album. It will be released on the same date as the album of Airbourne, which makes me even happier and impatient. As usual, Lordi has changed their outfits to start this new era, and unveiled their new outfits in the last few days. For now, Lordi has not released single or a clip on youtube, but I guess we can expect a new video in their own way, which would be really great, I love the clips of Lordi who each tell a horror story (or even inspired by films such as Blood Red Sandman is inspired by Evil Dead). Like for Airbourne, Lordi is among my favorite bands of all time.
Metal is coming, and the monsters come with it.
Skillet - Unleashed
Tenth. Unleashed, that will be release in August 5, 2016, is the tenth album of Skillet. And I think the group, known worldwide, with millions of views on their videos, does not have finished to surprise us. Their new video "Feel Invincible" was released on June 29 on YouTube and already reached over 5 millions of views, followed by several singles, such as "Back from the Dead", "Stars" and "I Want to Live". I have a preference for "Feel Invincible" and "Back from the Dead" for now. Some electro elements were added, but they do not detract from the beauty of the rock of the band. As always, the songs are powerful, filled with a palpable energy, we can feel the power of the guitars, drums, and the incredible voice of John (singer) and Jen (drummer). An album I also look forward so much in my collection.
For this new edition of DiscoveRock, I present another masked group, but this time from the United States: Gwar.
Gwar is one of the craziest bands I've ever seen in my life. Crazy but also imaginative and cool in terms of music. The Thrash Metal band was formed in 1985 in Richmond, Virginia. The group leader is called Dave Brockie, better known by the stage name Oderus Urungus.
One of the strengths of Gwar is the costumes and the names of each member. Each member has its identity, and his story shaped in the group. Video clips of Gwar are blends of comedy and horror with lots of blood, items related to the gore, sex and violence, and sometimes about politics. But Gwar is talking things over with humor, that only open-minded fans can understand and accept.
With their style and subjects in their songs, Gwar has already had many problems, especially with the religious. The group is even banned in some countries, including France, which saddens me because I'm a fan of Gwar, and I'd like see them in concert one day, even if it will not be the same without Oderus.
Indeed, unfortunately, in 2014, Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus, passed away. He was 50 years old. According to the survey, he died of an overdose. The group still exists, but since the death of Oderus, they did not released new albums, the last is "Battle Maximus", released in 2013.
