DiscoveRock Edition N°14 - Arkona

Already the month of May, the year progresses quickly, and hellcome again to the topic DiscoveRock. For this month, we're going in the direction of Eastern Europe, to Russia specifically, to discover a group of Pagan Metal: Arkona.

Founded in 2002, Arkona's like I said, a group of Pagan Metal, a kind of rather special metal native to Scandinavia, appeared in the 90s, and is mixing metal music with folklore of eastern countries. Indeed, Arkona mixing the metal with folk instruments and even medieval instruments, and also powerful vocals. The result is simply beautiful, and when you listen to the songs by closing your eyes, you feel transported elsewhere, in another world. In their songs, Arkona speaks mostly about folklore of their country, Russia, and also about the Slavic myths. And to be really transported in this mythical world, Arkona dresses themselves with beautiful and realistic costumes reminiscent of the Vikings.
With 7 albums already under their belt, Arkona has a very good reputation in the world of metal. They have been giving concerts throughout Europe and even in France, but I could not come that day. I always expect the day I could finally see them.
You're fan of Metal? Medieval / Fantasy? Myths and Legends? Vikings? Well, Arkona is made for you.
