Dark Floors: the Lordi movie

Today I watched one of my favorite dvd: Dark Floors, a horror film. With this movie, I discovered one of my favorite bands: Lordi. The film was directed by Pete Riski, a good friend of the singer, Mr. Lordi. The peculiarity is that the monsters in the film are played by the members of the band Lordi, in their own costumes.

To summarize, the film tells the story of a young girl, Sarah, autistic and hospitalized by his father, Ben, who is very concerned for her. One night, Ben tries to make out his daughter out of the hospital, but while they are in the elevator with four other people, the lights go out and the elevator stops on the 7th floor. When the doors open again, the group realizes that the hospital is deserted, and there reigns an abnormal silence. Worse, the infernal creatures invade the hospital and attack anything that moves. And now, everything seems related to Sarah, who seems to know more than the others about what is happening.

Dark Floors is a horror film that uses conventional codes of any horror movie: a macabre and dark atmosphere with an abandoned hospital decor that is somewhat reminiscent of the famous horror game Silent Hill. We note that more the group down up the floors, more the atmosphere becomes agonizing, and the danger is in constantly increasing, and the number of monsters too, as if the group descended towards hell. Time is suspended, and the drawings of Sarah seem to relate to the events of the film, as if she knew in advance what will happen and she draws it.

Characters:
-Sarah: The main character of the film. Sarah is a young girl declared autistic and hospitalized, but she seems possess gifts, because at no point in the film, she is terrorized by monsters, as if she was aware of their existence from the beginning. Stranger still, the monsters does not attack her (like the scene or Amen pass next to her without looking). Sarah seems to have a direct link with the monsters, as she speaks with authority to Mr. Lordi at the end, as if she tried to compel obedience.
-Ben: Sarah's father. Ben is an important character in the film, because it's sort of the last to die. Ben is a loving and devoted father who wants the best for his daughter and he really wants to protect her. He is rather brave (like the scene where he tries to hit Amen with a chair, or to crush Mr. Lordi with the ambulance). But ultimately, it is reduced to dust by the strange black mass that Mr. Lordi spread around him.
-Emily: The nurse assigned to care for Sarah. Emily is a serious nurse, who seems much appreciate Ben and who also wants to help Sarah. As she works in the hospital, she may help others to move in the hospital and heal the wounds of others (such as when she helps Jon with his injured leg). Emily gets killed towards the end of the film, by zombies (probably brought to life by Mr. Lordi).
-Jon: A man with a suitcase. Jon is what I describe as "the prototype of the big asshole". It's a rather unpleasant character who does not hesitate to blame the others and is willing to do anything to save his life (even to try to sacrifice Sarah in giving her to the monsters). What makes Jon even more detestable is when he beats Tobias who trying to prevent him. But during the movie, Jon is bitten in the leg by Kita and is killed by Amen.
-Tobias: I would say the most enigmatic character in the film, even more than Sarah. Tobias is a rather elderly man (we do not know how old he is), but as Sarah, he seems to know what is happening and is not concerned about the situation. Tobias often speaks in riddles, and it is quite complicated to understand what he want to say, and once again, Sarah is the only one who can understand him. Despite its mysterious nature, Tobias is a good person because he wants to save Sarah from Jon, and he saves Ben who was going to be killed by Amen (unfortunately, Tobias gets killed by the mummy just after)
-Rick: The security officer. Rick is the character that represents the strength and the law in the film. He wants to do everything to help others, but it has a poor relationship with Jon, who can not stop criticizing him. Rick also knows how to use his weapon, even if it proves useless against the monsters. Rick is the first to be killed in the film, by Ox.

Monsters:
-Awa: Awa is the first monster to appear in the film. It's a ghost, levitating in the air, able to pass through walls and also to push a such powerful screech that can blow glass. Awa seems to be very sensitive to light (as in her first attack, or she disappears after being touched by the light of a scanner). She appears much later, attacking Emily, but she disappears after that Sarah looked at her with an angry look.
-Kita: After Awa, Kita appears. It is an alien monster with a huge jaw and seems much loving human flesh (Is not Jon?), Or when he eats the entrails of a dead body on a stretcher. In his last appearance, he tries to attack Emily, but she manages to push him back by making him electric shocks. As Kita no longer appears after this scene, we do not really know if he survived or not.
-Ox: Ox aka "the brute!" Indeed, it's a minotaur, rather big and beefy, with a terrifying head of big brute, whose favorite pass-time is to destroy the walls and doors with his fists. In his first scene, he attacks the group of survivors, perhaps to try to catch Sarah and he kills Rick who was trying to shot him with his weapon. In its last scene, Ox tries again to attack the survivors, but they manage to retreat into the elevator and Ox no longer appears after that. In the film, Ox is invulnerable (as Rick can attest), and he runs pretty fast (for a monster of his size)
-Amen: You tell me, a mummy in a hospital it's not logic. That's true, but a ghost, an alien and a minotaur, you think it makes sense too? No. And it's a horror movie, so all is possible. In short, Amen is a mummy, rather aggressive with a short temper and a truly terrifying head. He has powers like teleport or trigger sandstorms. In his first scene, he killed Jon (thank you Amen!) And later he was impaled by Tobias (But Amen seems to like to have the last word, and impales Tobias into a kind of "hug of death")
-Mr. Lordi: The leader of the monsters, and certainly the most dangerous: Mr. Lordi, a monster that looks like some sort of evil lord with a too cool armor. Mr. Lordi has powers related to the dark: he appears to produce darkness behind him, which can spread like a living being, and he seems to control it as he want. Mr. Lordi is the last monster to appear, and Ben tries to crush him with an ambulance. Mr. Lordi is the only monster of the movie to"talking" with Sarah, and she seems to have a strange connection with him, as if he was her dark side that wants to get out, but she refuses, otherwise everyone will die.

Although the film is quite difficult to understand at times, even after having seen more ten times as I do, and even if he got a bad review (people have no taste nowadays, it's horrible!!). Dark Floors is a very good movie, with a good atmosphere, good actors, and very great monsters (LORDI!!!)

Godzilla: the movie 2014

Today, I bought a dvd that I waited a long time: Godzilla, the movie 2014. I was not able to go see the movie to the cinema, but I promised myself to buy the DVD. I watched tonight. My conclusion: the film is good, the story is correct, but I was a little disappointed with some points. I'll talk about the film, some good and some bad sides. This is not a criticism, but I was a little disappointed, and I hate to say it, because I'm a big fan of Godzilla.

The story takes place today, while strange seismic and nuclear incidents occur, particularly in the United States and Japan. Humans then discovered that there are millions of years, giant creatures, the mutos, fed themselves of radiations produced by the core of the earth. But two of these creatures come back on the earth, to absorb nuclear power and destroy humanity. No weapon can stop the giant creatures that cause havoc in cities. But a Japanese scientist announces that there is a way to stop them: another monster, Godzilla, who emerges from the depths of the ocean to confront the mutos, to destroy them and restore balance on the earth.

A good idea was to put Godzilla against other giant creatures, to see titanic battles. And another good point: this time, Godzilla is on our side, not against us. The King of the Monsters is somehow the protector of the earth, and it protects against other threats. Unfortunately, the militaries are really stupid, and want to kill Godzilla, while it only wants to protect us. The film shows once again how can the human be willing to do anything to destroy what scares him, even when the thing in question is not hostile towards him. Fortunately, Godzilla is like the mutos and remains insensitive to human weapons. It seems that Godzilla is the only creature capable of killing the mutos.

The final battle between Godzilla and the two mutos is simply superb. We are witnessing the clash of titans expected since the beginning of the film. At first, Godzilla manages to repel them, but the mutos attack together and Godzilla is push down and injured by the two creatures. When we see Godzilla roaring and trying to get up, while the two mutos bite it, claw it and hits it, one can not help but encourage Godzilla mentally, and tell him by thoughts "Go Godzilla! Shows them that you are the King of the Monsters!"
After a difficult and brutal fight, Godzilla manages to defeat the two creatures, but injured, he collapses on the floor. At first I was afraid that he died of his wounds, having just defeated his enemies. But fortunately, at the end, Godzilla awakens and rises triumphantly and people cheer the monster, as their hero.

But there is also a little disappointed in the film:
The film is called "Godzilla" but the monster appears the first time after 50 minutes of film, after almost half of the film. This is ridiculous. Godzilla appears only in a maximum of four scenes, and even in the early scenes, it appears only a few seconds. The film is still based on the humans, a military father, who wants to find his wife and son, scientists who want to help Godzilla, and soldiers who want to do everything explode. One would almost think this film is centered on the humans, and that Godzilla has only a secondary role in his own film.
I have nothing against the actors, they have done their roles, but when a movie is based on Godzilla, normally it is he who should appear the most and be the top of the pedestal. But there, it's almost like the writers wanted that the human hero steals the show at the King of the Monsters.
But fortunately, the film ends with Godzilla, which roars towards the sky, victorious and alive, then it goes back into the depths of the ocean after completing its mission,

Finally, Godzilla is a good movie, I'm very glad I saw, but I was just a little disappointed with the lack of apparition of the monster. I wanted to see more scenes with Godzilla, or fight scenes, and less scenes with humans, some were not necessary, from my point of view.

Godzilla is the REAL star of the movie.

The Disney Movies

For this chronicle, I'll talk about something that has rocked the childhood of millions of people worldwide, and even as adults, continue to watch. I am of course talking about the Disney movies. Who never watch a movie disney, or sing a disney song as a child? Myself, I did, and I'm not ashamed.
So, the disney movies are not just movies, it is a very complex world, or each place, each character has been created with care and precision (some people are also inspired by people who really existed, or legends, it depends), with sympathetic heroes, funny characters, some really cool villains (or stupid enough sometimes), and most importantly, impressive stories that leaves you speechless.

Okay I admit that the times when the prince kiss the princess with romantic music, are not really my favorite moments (yes I know, I'm a heartless). No, I kidding. The kissing scenes between the princess and the hero I admit, it's cute, it's touching, it ends well the story, everyone is happy, but it's not my favorite moments in movies disney (me what I like best is the villain)

Well, I will not criticize disney, so do not stoned me please, but I want to talk about something I've noticed: when we are children, we do not really pay attention to detail, what we want is to watch the movie), but looking back, and when we reach adulthood, we realize some details:

-Some stories are still very complex, with sometimes sensitive issues or have really happened, and when you are a child, you know not necessarily all.
-Some scenes can be very hard to watch. For example, the famous scene or Mufasa dies and Simba takes refuge with him, as if to let himself die beside his father. The first time, I cried in watching this scene, and I was 8 years old.
-Some death scenes (heroes and villains), can be quite violent, and even frightening.

But I do not criticize at all disney, I just told these details. The disney movies rocked my childhood and I still look watch them with great pleasure and always a sense of nostalgia. Yes, I'm nearly 21 and I still watch disney movies, because those who say it's for babies or that it's stupid, it's the people who have turned their backs on their childhood, or who did not have a childhood. But after all, everyone has the right to think as they want.

Stop to aggression and cyberbullying! ENOUGH!

Today I talk about aggression and cyberbullying. I explain why.

In France, a girl named Laura (I will not say her family name, by respect), has been attacked in the street, and the worst part is that these attackers have published the video on youtube, or we can see her get hit and insulted (thankfully the video has been removed since), but this kind of behavior has made me really angry. I do not know the names of the attackers, but they are cowards and bastards. Fortunately, they were caught by the police and they are in custody now, and apparently, they can risk jail.
I sent a message of support, as thousands of people have done, to the young Laura.
This story touched me personally, because I myself have been the victim of an attack of this kind qand I was in college, and this story reminded me of bad memories, so I had to react. No one should suffer that.

Big support for you Laura. We are with you.

The rock music changed my life

I was born in the 90s (1993 to be precise), but I became a fan of rock only from 2008. Sometimes when I look back, I told myself that I wanted to become a fan before, and how I have lived all these years without it? But I did not choose, it's fate as they say. Before becoming a metalhead, I was already listening to music, but especially the songs we usually hear on the radio, but I don't really liked, and then one day in 2008, I found the first three groups that made me love the rock music: Motörhead, Nirvana and AC / DC. It was a revelation and I knew at that moment that she would be my type of music for the rest of my life. And Lemmy Kilmister became my first idol. Is that the rock music to change something in my life? Oh yes, of course.

So in 2008, I only had three favorite bands: Motörhead, Nirvana and AC / DC, but in 2009 I discovered another group that has changed my life: Lordi. It's even in this group that I found my first female idol, Awa. From that moment, Lordi became my Interest and my favorite band. Then around 2012, 2013 and this year, I discovered countless bands, to name some: Halestorm, KISS, Gwar, Ghost, Cadaveria, Crucified Barbara, etc......

I was born in the 90s, but I'm also a huge fan of rock music of the 60s, 70s and 80s If I could travel in time, I would go in those times to see the debut of certain groups, and see how it was back then. I also like the bands of the 90s or 2000 I'm very curious who still loves to discover new bands and new music. I'm not picky, when I love music, well, I love. I do not focus myself on a particular genre, I'm open to all styles of rock and metal.

Yeah, the rock changed my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful to all the groups whose I'm a fan, and all my other friends metalhead.
I'm a metalhead, forever, and proud of it.

All my concerts so far.

Alright, I have not published for a while, but a good friend of mine gave me an idea, and for this article, I will write about all my concerts (to the first to the last for the moment).

1. Lordi (first concert) - April 9th, 2013
For my first concert, I saw a group that has completely changed my life: Lordi. I discovered the group in 2009, but I had to wait until 2013 to see them for the first time in my life. I remember at that time I was in training, and at the end of the day, I'm not even gone through my house and I was going to the concert hall. When I was waiting outside the room, I was really nervous and excited, and I could not believe that I was finally going to see them in live. I loved the group of the opening act, Reverse Grip, a Canadian group, which began set the mood in the room. Then Lordi arrived, and I became crazy and I screamed and almost tear my voice. I am not bored myself for one second, and I was very sad when it was over, but out of the room I said to myself: Damn, that was fucking awesome!!! "

2. Lordi (second concert) - December 11th, 2013
At first, this concert was not planned. In fact, I was not aware of this date. But on my birthday in October, my mother came to my room and gave me my gift: a ticket to see Lordi in concert, because she knew that I'm a big fan. It was the unexpected gift, I was really surprised and happy as hell. Seeing Lordi twice in the same year was unexpected. In the room, I was wearing my mask of Jason Voorhees, one of the cult horror monsters and also a favorite of Mr. Lordi. Several people told me that I had a great look, and I was happy. What about the concert? Well, like the first, I was completely crazy, sweaty with a warmth to death, but a fucking good concert!!!

3. Halestorm - April 30th, 2014
Halestorm is a band I discovered in 2013, and whose I became extremely fan. The singer, Lzzy Hale, has become one of my idols, I really love her, forever. When I heard that the band was coming to Paris for a concert, I did not hesitate for a second and I bought the tickets as soon as I could. The night of the concert, the hall was full and an amazing atmosphere. Both groups of the opening act, The Smoking Hearts and Dayshell were very good, but Halestorm was the best of course. Lzzy Hale had a look of biker with a leather jacket, pants and black boots. During the concert, she did a solo of keyboard right in front of me. I was mesmerized and I could not untie my eyes off her. I managed to show him a message that I had written for her, and she smiled at me. I sent her a kiss with my hand, she has not caught it, but in return she gave me a wink. At that moment, my heart has explode and I was even crazier. And I also managed to catch one of the picks of the band, that the bassist thrown to the crowd.
If one day I can review Halestorm in concert, I would bring the same message to Lzzy.

4, 5 and 6. Toybloïd - May 9th, May 15th and May 24th, 2014
Toybloïd is a French band formed since only some years, but with already with great potential. I've seen them three times in May, because Toybloïd is still a fairly small group, so the tickets do not cost too much. One member of the group has become one of my idols: Mado, the bassist. At the first concert, I was able to take a photo with her, and I bought the album of the band (dedicated by all members). At the second concert, the atmosphere was as powerful as in the first, and also for the third concert. Moreover, the third concert was free, so I took the opportunity.
Yeah, Toybloïd is maybe a little band for now, but in the future, I'm sure they will become important.

7. Ghost - July 3th, 2014
Another group that I absolutely wanted to see: Ghost. Before, I had seen pictures of Ghost Rituals by some of my friends, and I was hoping to see them one day. Well, it was done in July, when the demonic group gave a concert at the Citadel in the city of Arras. The concert took place during the day and not at night, I do not know why, and besides it does not matter. There were over 2,500 people waiting to Ghost. From the first notes of the intro, I got chills throughout the body and when Ghost came on stage, I started cheering and shouting as loud as possible. On the last song, "Monstrance Clock", the entire crowd, myself included, we sang with Papa Emeritus II, and it was a memorable ending. Papa Emeritus spoke us in French at few times during the concert, and it was fun, besides he has a very good accent.
In short, Ghost was absolutely great, and as soon as I can go see them again, let's go!

8. Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Vanessa Paradis, Détroit - from July 17 to 19, 2014
In July, shortly after the concert of Ghost, I went for three days to a festival in Brittany, where I could see several really talented artists like the French singer Vanessa Paradis, the band The Black Keys that I wanted to see, a French rock group named Detroit, with the french singer Bertrand Cantat, as well as Arctic Monkeys, whose fame is no longer in doubt. This festival was very exhausting, but full of good surprises.

9. Motörhead, Tarja and Airbourne - August 10th, 2014
To end the holidays, I went to a huge concert called "Hard Rock Session" held in the city of Colmar. I could see three artists that I admire a lot and whose I am really fan: Motörhead, Tarja and Airbourne.
Tarja came in first. She is really beautiful, and her voice too. As she singing, the whole crowd, including myself, also sang with her. We cheered and screamed so stronger for her, at the end of his concert, Tarja shed a tear of joy and we all blew kisses with his hands. The concert started very well.
Then came the Australian band, Airbourne, whose reputation is growing very fast. These guys are completely freaks! They are inspired by AC / DC, but they give a dynamic hyper concert and hot as hell. The singer Joel O'Keeffe, has explode beer cans on his head and sprayed the audience with. I took a shower of beer by Airbourne. It was too cool !! Congratulations guys!
And to finish the concert, a legendary group, known around the world, and one of the bands I wanted to see the most: Motörhead, with the legendary singer, Lemmy Kilmister. Earlier this year, Lemmy was very sick and I was afraid that the group cancels his dates in France, but ultimately, Lemmy is healed and I'm reassured.
With Airbourne and Tarja and the atmosphere was already electric, but with Motörhead, it exploded! Despite his age, Lemmy managed to kick our ass with his powerful voice, and I was impressed throughout all the concert.
So, to finish the holidays, I made the Hard Rock Session. At the end, I was dead tired, wet, but more happy as ever!

Well, it was all my concerts for now. But remember, the important thing is not the number but to enjoy every moment of those moments that will remain unforgettable in your mind and your heart.
